In the winter more sellers pull their homes off the market because of the holidays and the children are out of school on winters break.  It is also more common for people to travel in the winter, ski enthusiast often come to Tahoe or Vale and others visit family for the holidays.  While there are fewer properties to choose from the winter is a good time to buy because buyers have less competition.  Unlike the buying frenzy in the summer when people are more likely to move because of the good weather conditions, the cold winter months makes people sedentary and less likely to want to move.  I love touring properties around the holidays in the winter savvy agents know that holiday decorations help buyers feel at home as they tour the house.  Those sellers’ who do leave their home on the market are also more likely to make a deal with buyers, hoping to sell and get some holiday cash and have less hassle to worry about with the busy holidays approaching.
