Thinking about buying in Lake Tahoe? First you must decide which side of the lake to live on. South Lake is the side of Lake Tahoe most people vacation.

South Lake has more restaurants, movie theaters, and all night entertainment. Located on the California side of Lake Tahoe South Lake has some casinos by the Nevada Border. Along the shoreline of the lake is public beaches and shallow lake water for wading and launching shallow boats. Ski South Lake at Heavely or Kirkwood Ski Resorts they are very popular and attract many tourists during the winter months. South Lake Tahoe is loud, exciting, and is the party destination of many.

North Lake Tahoe has blue clear Caribbean like waters, unlike South Lake Tahoe who’s shallow water has a brown color from the mud. North Lake Tahoe is located on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe where buyers can enjoy the benefit on Nevada’s low taxes. North Lake Tahoe is more relaxed and has less noise and traffic from tourists. North Lake has few chain restaurants most are independently or family ran and offer a diverse array of food you can’t get any where else. Buying a home in North Lake Tahoe in cities that are private communities such as Incline Village you get the keys to more then just your new home. In Incline Village North Lake you get access to all three private beaches (Ski Beach, Incline Beach, and Burn Cedar Beach) and you can launch your boat or water toy for free with ease. Incline Village also has two golf courses the Mountain Golf Course and the Championship Golf Course with discounted fees for local property owners and free tee time after 5:00pm. Ski at a discount as a local at one of the two ski resorts Diamond Peak which has it’s own daily shuttle that picks up locals or Mount Rose Ski Resort. In Incline Village you are only 15 minutes away from Squaw and Northstar Ski Resorts.

When comparing the two sides I chose North Lake. I love the crystal clear blue water and I like avoiding the party crowds when I go to the beach or go out for a good meal. What do you think?
